Apple may well have had an ulterior motive for not releasing the 3G version of the iPad at the initial launch. Of course the quality of the video download on Wi-Fi would be superior to the 3G bandwidth that is currently buckling under the strain of the existing iPhone data growth.

Skype taking over America 89 million at a time
It looks like Skype is set to become the dominent VoIP service in the US with the announcement by Verizon that it has agreed to offer the service to their customers. The deal was announced at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona by the two parties with the roll out said to commence in March this year.

Mobile data traffic to grow to 40 billion gig by 2014
Global mobile data traffic will reach 3.6 exabytes per month or an annual run rate of 40 exabytes by 2014, according to the Cisco Visual Networking Index report. I had to look up what an exabyte was in Wikipedia and this is in fact 1 billion gigabytes. This is just under 40 times the volume used in 2009 and constitutes a compound annual growth rate of 108 percent.
